Player profiles of the New York Giants football team
The 2011 New York Giants were the surprise team in the NFL last years as they went 9-7 in the regular season, but ended up winning the Super Bowl. The team will be a favorite to win it again in 2012 as they will bring back several of their key players.
In 2011, Eli Manning stepped up and proved to be one of the best quarterbacks in the game. He proved that he could be a leader of the franchises as he totaled nearly 5,000 yards passing and almost 30 touchdown passes. Now in his 9th NFL season, Manning will continue to dominate defenses and lead the Giants to victories.
One of Manning’s favorite targets last year, and one of the best surprises was wide receiver Victor Cruz. Cruz was a relative unknown entering his 3rd season in the NFL. However, he was one of the most dominating receivers in the NFL as he accumulated over 80 catches and 1,500 yards.
Defensively, the Giants will once again be led by defensive lineman Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck. Last year alone, the two defensive linemen accumulated a total of 14 sacks and over 50 tackles. Their aggressive presence was a problem all year for offenses.
